This hub is for Shopify, Shopify Plus, Adobe Commerce (Magento), BigCommerce, PrestaShop, CS-Cart, and regional builders. It is the English-language answer to “which ecommerce platform” when you are not already locked to WordPress or 1C.
Shopify
Shopify is the default recommendation for most DTC brands that want a managed checkout, app ecosystem, and a path to Shopify Plus. I implement themes, checkout extensibility where the plan allows, apps that earn their keep, and Storefront API work when you outgrow the theme. Shopify Payments / Stripe / PayPal are the usual rails. I am honest about URL rigidity, app fees, and B2B limits below Plus.
BigCommerce
BigCommerce fits mid-market catalogs that want SaaS operations without Shopify’s transaction-fee model. Headless via Catalyst or a custom front is in play when the design system cannot live in a theme.
Magento / Adobe Commerce
Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce still wins for large B2B, multi-store, and complex catalogs. It is expensive to own. I take Magento work when the complexity is real, not as a status symbol. Migrations off Magento 1 are treated as replatforms, not upgrades.
PrestaShop and CS-Cart
PrestaShop and CS-Cart appear in existing estates and marketplace-style catalogs. I maintain, extend, or migrate them; I rarely start a greenfield US/UK brand here unless you already have the team.
Regional builders
InSales, Tilda Store, and Horoshop are the right tools in specific CIS/UA markets. For an English DTC launch they are usually the wrong default. Short notes belong here so the cluster does not pretend those products do not exist; the deep CIS path is Bitrix or custom.
Checkout, taxes, and carriers are detailed on cart, payments and delivery. Product discovery is on catalog. If the storefront must be a custom React/Astro app, go to headless. Leaving Magento 1, OpenCart, or a locked SaaS for Shopify or Woo is store migration, not a checkbox on this hub.
